This is seriously big. This is a short post but *you need* to keep an eye on this. Plink is going to be seriously disruptive to many industries, not just the loyalty card industry.
Restaurants Will Offer Facebook Credits Incentives: Plink.
To earn Facebook Credits, users join Plink by logging on with their social network credentials and securely registering their credit or debit cards.
The more people purchase at participating restaurants and retailers, the more Facebook Credits earned.
I would be shocked if this company goes un-acquired very long. And I’d put (virtual) money on Facebook.
The Gamification of Shopping:
Points and credits is gamification. I’ve argued this is the most basic gamification behind point based loyalty cards and credit cards. Now Plink just tied that to any debit or credit card.
Granted right now it’s just giving you Facebook credits but how hard would it be to expand that other virtual or real credits? Not hard at all I imagine.
And the most disruptive part? It’s tied to your credit card! You are literally opting in to let them track your spending behavior. This is the real power behind Amazon and iTunes: They have all our credit cards.
