Google Reader Friends and Shared Feeds

Reader Shared Amongst all the hype and blog posts about Twitter and FriendFeed (all very cool and useful) I wanted to put out a request.

If you use Google Reader to manage your blogs (if you don’t, why not) please add me as a friend. tacanderson@gmail.com

If you are using Google Reader the “share” feature is a powerful collaborative tool. Basically this allows you to share cool posts with your friends. You can also pull an RSS feed of those posts and share that externally.

I often find that the recommended posts from my friends are the best posts in my Reader. It also saves me from following blogs that usually wouldn’t interest me (like politics). The good stuff get’s shared by my friends.

I’d like to see how well this scales. I have 12 14 friends (and counting) currently, but not all of them share posts very often. But then some of my friends share quite a lot. I’ll keep you posted on how my little experiment goes.

  1. Are you enjoying the shared posts? According to Google Reader I have shared 137 items in the last 30 days, so I’m probably one of those friends that “share quite a lot”, huh? ;-)

I agree though, the shared posts of my friends tend to be interesting/funny and are not part of my normal reading.

  2. I use Google Reader but don’t use Google Chat or Talk. Google won’t let me add friends without using one of these features as far as I can tell.
