Random Thoughts 01/21/2009

  • This is a great article pointing out the strengths of Wikipedia and the weaknesses of Google’s Knol. Wikipedia aggregates all the knowledge on a topic in one place. Knol’s model basically encourages everyone to create their own, resulting in inferior and scattered content. When Knol first came out people thought the ability for people to make money on their knowledge would pull away from Wikipedia. Doesn’t look like that’s the case.

  • I was a little bumbed I couldn’t get 7 to install on my Ubuntu laptop. Apparently you have to already be running an older version of Microsoft to upgrade. I’m sure there’s a way to do it (people obviously are) I’m just not geeky enough to know how to do it.
