Well here it is. This my first ‘official’ campaign since joining HP. Using the WetPaint wiki that HP has built for there “What do you have to say?” campaign we partnered with several Federated Media authors to sponsor a blog competition.
VOTE
on the industry’s most valuable business blogs! It’s no secret that the business blogosphere is getting bigger every day, with articles on everything from marketing and management to entrepreneurship and innovation. There are just SO many posts about almost every conceivable topic—how can you possibly find those that include only the best, most valuable information for your Small & Medium Business? The answers are right here—in the HP Small & Medium Business Printing Wiki—but WE NEED YOUR HELP. That’s right; we’re letting our valued SMB Wiki visitors vote on the best of the best business-related blogs by an exclusive team of noted industry writers. The winning blogs will be featured in a customized HP E-Book Template you can download and use for your business!
The intent here is multi-faceted:
- Provide value to your average blog reading small business by bringing together some of the best business advice out there from some of the most popular business bloggers
- Provide a resource for above mentioned small business. The wining post will be compiled in an ebook, free for download.
- Help readers with their own marketing. Besides the useful tips we will also be making the ebook templates available for readers to create their own ebooks.
- Have fun.
- Drive some traffic and awareness to HP’s SMB wiki.
The posts are broken into 4 categories:
We’ve got some great blogs featured here. Mike Arlington from TechCrunch, John Battelle from Searchblog, John Janstch from Duct Tape Marketing, Guy Kawasaki, Ars Technica, 43 Folders, Read/Write Web, and the list goes on.
Basically most of my favorite blogs. Next time I’ll figure out a way to get ChasNote in there too
It’s reassuring to see the bloggers get involved. Hopefully more of them will get this involved.
The biggest lesson I learned: Time. Coordinating this many bloggers, agencies project managers, etc takes time. Let me know what you think of the campaign? What would you have done differently? If this is deemed successful what would you like to see us do next time?
