Why do you care so much about what companies are doing?
Why do you care if they blog or not?
Why do you care what (X) number of people are doing on Twitter or Facebook?
Why do you want to work in social media?
Is it for job security?
Is it because you want to be Internet famous?
Do you want to write a book?
Do you want everyone to see how smart you think you are?
Seriously, stop for 5 seconds and ask yourself, why are you doing this?
Are you trying to change the World? Because you are.
Personally, I love people. I love communications. I love the way that it can transform the World. I’m also a total geek and business model junkie.
And yes, in some small way, I want to change the World. I want to make business a greater driver of value in all of it’s activities. I think businesses are something that should benefit stakeholders as much as shareholders.
I fundementally believe that Communications is the single greatest tool that human beings posses.
I also believe that Social Media is the culmination of the greatest communication technologies and theories to ever exist.
And we get to lay the groundwork for generations to come. So don’t screw it up.
(And yes someone recently asked me this.)
